An index to TARARUA[1]

TARARUA is the annual publication of the Tararua Tramping Club.
This index covers Tararua 1947 to Tararua 1990 (numbers 1 to 43).

  • This index is to help:
    • compiling articles on club history;
    • researching club events and people;
    • understanding conditions and what the club did in the past;
    • interested browsers of Tararua.
It thus does not have one specific purpose or audience; nor is it an index of trip information. References to places, tracks etc, are only indexed if they have some other significance (for example historic). Generally a reference to a person is not indexed unless it is an obituary or other article specific to an individual. These appear under the heading 'People'.
  • In many cases only the first occurrence of an item in any given article is indexed.
  • Each page reference has the form year:page. Thus 75:19 indicates Tararua 1975 page 19.
  • Page references in italics (e.g. 71:31) denote a reference to a separate photograph. If the page on which a photograph appears is not numbered, the number of the preceding page is used.
  • Page references with a dagger suffix (e.g. 59:81†) denote a reference to an obituary.
  • A year in brackets as part of a heading or subheading indicates the year in which the event took place and generally only appears if this does not correspond to the edition of Tararua.
