The Wednesday ramble - five members had an enjoyable time on the Oakleigh Street-Stratton Street circuit. Nine members were led by Peter Jagger on an interesting trip up to Mt McKerrow via Graces Stream. The Southern Crossing became a trip in the snow along the Marchant Ridge to Alpha where the four members spent a very cold night. They came out over Bull Mound and along the Tauherenikau back to Kaitoke. Two long days, but a jolly good time, with blisters to show for it. Found a burnt out car at the Kaitoke car park. Three M/F members had a wet, cold day travelling from Atiwhakatu up to the Pinnacle ridge and down to the Waingawa, before deciding the weather had won. A large Preschool family group had a wonderful trip up to the wind turbine and a great barbeque on Sunday. 15 adults, 16 children On what turned out to be a very warm Sunday, 16 people set off from the high point above Terawhiti Station and made their way down to the Woolshed via the road, then climbed over the hill and through the gorse to Ohau Bay for lunch. They followed the road over to Te Ikaamaru Bay and watched a family of Paradise ducks paddle across the bay before making their way back uphill to the cars. |
