Tramping Reports 2006 Dec 24 to Tuesday 2007 Jan 16Hugh's Xmas trip to Stewart Island had 4 members for 9.5 out of 10 days of fine weather. They had good fishing and saw some kiwi. They visited Alva Is, SW Arm, Mason Bay. Alan Wright's Xmas trip to Huxley/Hopkins had 6 members for 9 days of generally fine weather. The rivers were up, making crossing difficult. Malcolm Cunninghams Xmas trip had 7 members for the trip from the Hopkins valley - Huxley - Broderick Pass and down the Landsborough river. They had generally good weather and thoroughly enjoyed the challenges which the trip threw at them. They say their route over Strutt bluff was good. The Wed 10 Jan ramble was cancelled owing to weather. The medium trip to Graces stream/McKerrow had 2 members and 1 non-member. The day started off fine but turned to heavy rain so they cut the trip short. The Sunday 14 Jan trip from Rimutaka summit to twin bridges had 4 members and 4 non-members. They started in rain but ended the day in hot weather. Enjoyed the blackberries. |
