On Wednesday the BusBootsBus trip around the Petone foreshore/Hikoikoi area provided a range of options for 13 people on a gloriously fine day. The other Wednesday trip had the services of an admirable local guide who took the group to the Makaretu river for lunch. They took two hours walking back down the river with only one semi submersion. 7 members, 1 non member plus guide The TTC Unplugged weekend at Holdsworth attracted 15 members who camped and tramped. Some went up to Pinnacle Ridge, some did the loop track and some just slept! Two members left Holdsworth Lodge and camped at Totara Flats on their way to Walls Whare, swimming with the eels at Clem Creek. It was cloudy on the Neil Winchcombe ridge on Saturday, but perfect on Hector with wonderful views. Sunday was perfect also. They stopped for a game of cricket on Bull Mound (won by HV by one run). 2 members, one referee! The other weekend trip was a youthful crossing from Holdsworth to Jumbo, via Angle Knob for 8 youngsters and 5 adults. The Saturday medium trip appreciated the efforts made in cutting back the gorse on Kaumatua ridge, but on the other side of the Pakuratahi the track also needed much attention to gain the spur leading to the Climie ridge. However brute force and secateurs came to the rescue. 9 members Two medium/fit members enjoyed 11 hours up the Eastern Hut and Quoin ridge. On a more gentle note, the preschool family group enjoyed cycling in Whiteman’s Valley and playing in the local café. 5 adults, 4 littlies The Sunday trip up the old Gentle Annie track in the cool bush was enjoyed by 6 members and 5 non members. A busy TTC week! 86 people out and about |
