Tramping Reports Wednesday 2007 March 14 to Tuesday 2007 March 20The Wednesday ramble had 4 members and 1 non member. They enjoyed the walk to Red Rocks despite the downpour at lunch time. By contrast the medium/fit trip to Tapokopoko had a dry boot crossing of the Orongorongo river in the morning but the river was swollen by the return in the afternoon. They experienced all types of weather in one day, including hail. There was 4 members. The Saturday medium trip had 4 members and 2 non-members. They set out from Jubilee Park for Paremata but the weather forced them to change their plans and they walked out to Petone rail station. The Sunday trip to Mt Barton had 7 members. The Sunday family trip to the Tauherenikau valley made the right decision to go despite the weather as it fined up by mid-day. The Tauherenikau was running brown and raging. 11 members. The pre-school family Sunday trip changed to Colonial Knob because of the weather. 15 members had an ejoyable time. A bulldozer is currently working on the road. Saturday medium/fit trip did not run. The Kime/Field work party has been rescheduled to the following week. Total 38 members and 3 non members |
