Tramping Reports Wednesday 2007 May 16 to Tuesday 2007 May 22The Wednesday E trip along the Northern Walkway had 20 members and 2 non-members. They lunched at the Foden's and had reasonable weather. The only thing to marr a nice day was having to share the train with hoards of school kids from Raroa. The Tutuwai trip has been postponed. The weekend trip along the ridges to Sayers hut from Holdsworth had 5 members. Enjoyed good weather and a good stew on Saturday night. Report that the river levels are very low. The medium trip had 6 members and one non-member for their 6.5 hour walk in East Harbour Regional Park. The trapping is having an effect as there was lots of bird life. The 4 members on the M/F trip made a quick visit to the new Elder hut. The adventure started with the serious drive into Waiotauru Saddle. They then undertook a M/F trip to Elder and back in a medium time of 7 hours at a fast pace. They still had to negotiate most of the road out in the dark. The Sunday E/M trip from Seatoun to Oriental Bay had 9 members and 4 non-members. They had all the sun while the rest of the region looked to be under a pall of cloud all day. The pre-school family trip to Karori Sanctuary had 4 families, 7 adults and 7 children. Good walk and picnic which the kids enjoyed. Total 58 members and 6 non members |
