Seven members “kicked the pipe” on Kakanui in the Akatarawas on Wednesday in an essentially all off-track tramp. The ramble took 17 members around the Ngaio area for four hours. On Saturday a few very light showers did not upset the tramp which started with a climb through delightful bush up onto Mowlem then along the firebreak north. Lunch was had in the sun above Naenae, observing the rain over Wellington. 6 members, 1 non member Just three members braved the miserable day to cover the route from Karori over Hawkins Hill to Red Rocks. They had a buffeting from the wind too. |
