The mid winter solstice party was a great success with 43 atendees, who had a good lunch and sung tramping songs after they had split into two groups for an easy walk around Huntleigh Park and an even easier walk around Otari. 39 members – 4 non members The medium/fit trip went up one spur onto Tauherenikau and back down another spur, and report it was very cold on top. 6 members – 1 non member On Sunday the sun shone on Maunganui Peak in the Maungokotukutuku’s, but the cold wind on top meant that the lunch spot was in the bush. An enjoyable day for nine members and two non members. The Family preschool group enjoyed Otari on Sunday, especially the snack stop and lunch stop. 7 adults and 10 children The winter solstice “Social Climbers” party at Tararua Lodge was enjoyed by 19 people despite very cold, snowy and stormy conditions, which made it quite adventurous getting up to the lodge. Everyone dressed up and had a good time. Two members attended a SAR training course also. |
