Tramping Reports Wednesday 2007 Jul 4 to Tuesday 2007 Jul 10The Wednesday E trip from Chartwell to Mt Kaukau had wind but stayed out of cloud. There was 5 members plus 1 with an unreliable car. The M Wednesday trip was cancelled owing to swollen streams and virus. The ski week had up to 27 people at the lodge (half of them children). They were able to ski every day despite it being wet for the first few days. There is lots of snow so that the Waterfall tows are open and the Knoll Ridge is about to open. The Saturday M trip to Kaitoke delayed until Sunday. There was 7 members. They found some snow on the top of the ridge. The Sunday E trip to Cannon Point had 5 members. The Around Ruapehu trip, or 'five days in a parka', had a lot of everything; rain, snow,sleet,hail,thunder,lightening and freezing cold but still managed to achieve their objective. A party of 4.
