Tramping Reports Wednesday 2007 Jul 11 to Tuesday 2007 Jul 17The Wednesday ramble to Bake Beans Bend from Korokoro had shocking weather. The two members cut the trip short to avoid wet feet and decided the trip was a bit tough for a ramble. The Wednesday M/F trip to Cape Terawhiti was first postponed one day and then cancelled owing to foul weather. The school holiday ski week started with good weather, turned foul and then returned to good. They had many dramas including power cuts and report numerous broken windows in lodges and cars caused by flying stones. Numbers peaked at 29, 10 stayed on into the weekend and were joined by another 5. The weekend was fine and frosty. There is lots of snow but the ski fields were very quiet. The Saturday medium trip had 7 members for a brisk walk via Graces stream to McKerrow. It was very slippery but no mishaps. Ken Drayton's family trip Plimmerton-Pukerua Bay was postponed to this coming weekend. The Sunday E/M trip had 7 members. Rock Instruction had a great day at Titahi Bay except for a case of vandalism of a car. There was a total of 60 members out in the hills and 10 non members. |
