Tramping Reports Wednesday 2007 Sept 19 to Tuesday 2007 Sept 25The trip to the St James Walkway had 4 great days. They party was 4 members and 1 non-member. They report snow but no sandflies and not many people. The Wednesday E trip had 19 members and 3 non-members but shed people at various points on the route. It was a beautiful day with no wind. The Saturday M trip switched to Kapakapanui. 5 members had mildy sunny conditions inspiring a lot of morning tea stops. 8 members on the Saturday M/F trip followed the old Penn Ck track route before climbing the main watershed spur to Table Top. They report that the slips and water courses on the old track are all serious challenges. The trip took a total of 10.5 hours. The Sunday E trip had 14 members and 3 non-members for a very convivial day in Belmont FP.The family buggies and walkers trip had 12 members and 4 non members. They report that the Pinehaven hill track area has been logged since we were there last, which improved the views but meant that the local area was a bit bleak. However the kids enjoyed climbing onto the tree stumps. A total of 62 members and 11 non-members. |
