Despite the hail, wind and rain, 14 people enjoyed their trip along the old Five Mile Track on Wednesday. Four members set off on Saturday to the Ruahines with some doubt as to the weather, but it was improving, with increasing sunshine while they ascended the Ngamoko Range. However when they came out onto the ridge they had to retreat because of the wind, and turned their trip into a day trip. M/F - Two members went over South Saddle via Goat stream spur and then climbed via slips onto the ridge dividing Mukamuka and Topokopoko streams, thence out via Jans Spur track. Steep country and thick vegetation. On Saturday 5 members decided to keep their feet dry and changed their plans to tackle Mick and Tangata. The Sunday Easy trip enjoyed the Maungakotukutuku lower slopes, and only had ten minutes of rain at midday. 16 members, 1 non member It was another full house at Tararua Lodge with a really good day for skiing on Thursday, on new snow. Friday was good, and Sunday was really good with no queues. 30 people |
