Is this a record? 62 People attended the annual BBQ at Kaitoke on Wednesday. 28 started the day with a walk and 33 came later for the shared lunch. A wonderful day. Five members had an idyllic morning walk up the lower Ruamahanga track and Paddy's Creek. A very hot climb after lunch got us up onto the Blue Range. It was a long ridge with no signs of anyone having ever walked along it before, ending with a very hot walk down through farmland The work party at Waerenga Hut saw 12 members clearing the site of felled trees and stacking firewood. On Saturday 11 members were led by Peter Jagger on a delightful Eastern Hills/Gollans Stream journey along some obscure tracks and routes from York Bay to Days Bay. Sunday saw a group up Butcher’s Track, along Cattle Ridge and returning along the Orongorongo Track for a pleasant day in the bush. 6 members, 3 visitors |
