Christmas/New Year January 1 to 15 January 2008 The long trip into the Wilkin - Siberia - Young had 9 members and 2 non-members split into two parties travelling in opposite directions. All went well in good weather. 11 members and 4 non-members did the Routeburn - Caples with a few side excursions. They had 1.5 days wet out of 8. 3 members enjoyed excessive heat for a Cascade - Oamaru - Te Iringa circuit. The Whakanui stream was in flood so the 2 members and 1 non-member on the Wednesday trip had to change the route West Whakanui - Turere spur circuit. The other Wednesday trip to Dobson hut site had 8 members and reports lots of blue orchids in flower. The Sunday afternoon trip to Mt Kaukau had 18 people in mist. 45 members and 13 non-members on 6 trips. |
