(:Anniversary Weekend:) 16 to 22 January 2008 The Wednesday easy trip into Belmont Farm Park had 9 members and 1 non-member. It was hot and they were treated to a private air show by a topdressing plane. There was also a trip to Matiu/Somes with 7 members. The long weekend trip to Tarn Ridge - Arete Forks had 4 members and 1 non-member. The weather was very windy on Sunday forcing them to drop down the old route from the old Tarn Ridge hut site down to the Waingawa river. The route is very overgrown at the bottom but the river is good going. A party of 5 members went from the Desert Rd to Waihohonu hut and did the round the mountain track in fabulous weather. The family camping trip to Holdsworth had 7 adults and 9 children for a good weekend. 3 members did High Ridge. The Sunday E/M trip into Browns Track - Green Stream had 5 members and 4 non-members and a nice day. A total of 30 members and 6 non-members on 5 trips |
