Tramping Reports Wednesday 2008 Apr 02 to Tuesday 2008 Apr 0810 members set off on Easter Saturday for Kelly range after a brilliant day cycling around Ch Ch Port Hills and Little river rail trail. It was raining but easing as they made the steep climb through lovely bush with lots of birds. Carroll hut is on the tussock tops with tarns complete with frogs near by. They spent 2 days exploring the Kelly range, after which they were joined by two more members as they headed for central otago and the rail trail The Wednesday traverse of Kapakapanui had 7 members for a very long day in good weather. The Easy trip in the Karapoti had 7 members and 1 non-member. Nice weather but a few people had trouble finding the Karapoti road end. The club trip to the Livingstone Mnts never ran. All the scheduled weekend trips ended up being cancelled owing to lack of interest in tramping in the rain. However 3 members undertook a Cattle Ridge - Herepai loop postponed from a few weeks ago. They had fine but windy weather and report that the huts were packed. A total of 29 members and 1 non-member |
