Both Wednesday trips had a good time despite the gray overcast day. The 13 members of Easy trip to Waimapihi Reserve described themselves as ‘children of the mist’ on account of being in the cloud most of the day. The 5 members of the BBB trip kept a bit lower down on the Hutt River Trail.

On Sunday 3 members attempted a traverse of Frith strm. They traversed about 10m of the stream before deciding that the trip was strictly a low flow summer exercise and adjusted the trip to a circumnavigation of Frith strm instead.

The 9 members and 4 non-members on the Eastern Walkway copped the southerly early on but the sun emerged in the afternoon. The 3 members and 2 non-members on the medium trip to Kapakapanui had a virtually rain free day. A brief clearance in the cloud at midday showed them snow on the Tararuas.
