Tramping Reports Wednesday 2008 Apr 30 to Tuesday 2008 May 6The three members of the Wednesday cycle trip around the Porirua circuit managed to evade the periodic torrential downpours by sheltering under trees or in cafes and remained dry. The Wednesday M/F trip Waikawa - Thompson was cancelled owing to the apalling weather. The Saturday trips all shifted to Sunday to get the better weather. Six members of the M/F trip had a long 10 hour day into the Snowy river from Otaki Forks, up spurs and down logging roads. Sunny, with the last half hour in the dark. The E/M trip had only 2 members and followed a re-discovered faint trail between the old and new Wakanui tracks. The had cold,wet conditions and had some snow on the ground. The other E/M trip from Camp Wainui to Round Ridge had 8 members and 4 non-members. They also had cold conditions. Total 19 members and 4 non members |
