Tramping Reports Wednesday 2008 Aug 20 to Tuesday 2008 Aug 26The Wednesday easy trip to Colonial Knob had 7 members and 1 non-member and a fine day. The weekend M/F trip to Dundas was cancelled owing to the leader being unavailable. The Cone hut trip was cancelled owing to reports from DoC of major tree damage on the track. The 3 members changed to a Waerenga workparty. The weekend ski trip had a full hut and pea-soup all weekend except for 2.5 hours of glorious weather and ski conditions. The Saturday M/F trip had 4 members and climbed the spur between the northern tributories of Green Strm. They report lots of exposure - but only to the sun. Apparently the spur is good going with signs of being occasionally trimmed. The Saturday medium trip Grenada Nth to Hutt Valley (Awa Kairangi) had 6 members. They reported stolen items found in Grenada Nth to the Police. It was a nearly 7 hour day and found a continuous bush route from Mangaraki to SH2. The Sunday E/M trip had 6 members who all got absolutely soaked. Total of 56 members and 1 non-member. |
