Tramping Reports Wednesday 2008 Sep 17 to Tuesday 2008 Sep 23Wednesday: The Easy walk from Redwood to Porirua through bush followed new tracks, that surprisingly went very near many members' backyards! 26 members had a lovely time. Weekend: The Waerenga re-opening was an astounding success. 103 members attended the opening, and 30-35 stayed overnight. The cake disappeared fast, and they had a bonfire. The Saturday off-track exploration was cancelled in honour of the Waerenga re-opening. Skiing: The Ski trip 15-19th had 3 fine days, 1 bad day and 1 day for keen skiiers only. The queues were short, and everyone got enough skiing. 12 members, 2 non-members. The Ski weekend at Tararua Lodge had excellent weather. They climbed to the crater and ski'd down it. 28 members, 1 non-member. Sunday: The Family trip to the Makara Walkway went well, though it was windy. They went along the coast, up to the top of the hill for a look, and had a coffee in the cafe. 2 member families, 2 non-member families, and 8 kids in total. On the Easy trip to Red Rocks, 3 members lasted 40 minutes in diabolical winds before they turned around and ran for home! Total 150 members and 7 non members |
