Bothamley Park clean-up, Blyth, Hutt hills

Wednesday 26th

Bothamley Park clean-up, All, Hadley Bond A huge thank-you to all who turned up to test their skills in nasty scrub gorse and blackberry, and subject themselves to cleaning up other people’s rubbish!
Fifty two entries of attendees are on the clipboard lists for contact tracing, but I am quite sure some missed signing in. The number also included a dozen of very willing members of the Aotea Environmental Group - some also members of TTC.
The wader-clad Franz Hubmann thought nothing of wading through the deeper pools to tackle the more difficult places.
The project was very successful and I need to thank Porirua City Council for their assistance by way of providing bags and equipment; and collecting the recovered material.

Saturday 29th

29-30, Snow Tramp Ruapehu, Blythe Hut area, M, Russell Cooke At 9.15 on Saturday nine  members started walking  on the Ruapehu round the mountain track. Conditions were less than optimal as we headed towards Blyth hut. Once we had unpacked we headed up the mountain in snowy conditions until the wind velocity suggested we turn back. At the hut we had a warm fire, mulled wine and a scrumptious dinner.
On Sunday the day was clear for beautiful views of the mountain as we walked out. Topo Map

Sunday 30th

Woburn/Days Bay, E/M, Liz Martin 10 members and 2 non members had a very pleasant day out doing this classic TTC circuit.
From Woburn, it was up through the Haywards Reserve on to the top of the ridge and the ECNZ trail.  Safely crossing the Wainuiomata Hill Road on the bridge, they entered the Francis Bell Reserve and followed the Ridge Track until it was time to descend to Days Bay. A tired but happy bunch dispersed via public transport. Topo Map

- 57 club members and 16 non-members tramping in the hills.
