Easy TBTBT (Train/Boots/Tram/Boots/Train) trip to Queen Elizabeth Park
Wednesday 25th April, 2012 (Anzac Day)
The group enjoyed a pleasant day out exploring the southern part of Queen Elizabeth Park. Points of interest included Mâori burial sites, an interesting bush remnant and wetland areas, with brand new tracks still under construction. A lunchtime tram ride out to the coast was an opportunity to learn more about the history of Wellington trams from an enthusiastic driver, who also took the photo. An afternoon stroll down the beach afforded an opportunity to admire the largest area of sand dunes remaining on the Kapiti Coast.
The group was fortified by not one, but two batches of Anzac biscuits from Pip and Margaret, not to mention the cafe stop before we had even started walking properly.
