Climb
Patrick Arnold Firstly: three members one non-member summitted Mt Cupola in Nelson Lakes on the 2nd of November in perfect weather and snow conditions (this was a postponed trip from Labour Weekend and was worth the wait). Coming down we had an entertaining night at John Tait hut before an alpine start for the walk out in order to catch the afternoon ferry. Nice to be back in Wellington in time for dinner!
Secondly (if you haven't heard from other sources): four members have just completed the best part of two weeks climbing in Aoraki/Mt Cook National Park. Two four-day weather windows allowed all four party members to summit both Aoraki/Mt Cook and Elie de Beaumont, and a few smaller peaks. Other peaks summitted by party members climbing in pairs included Elie de Beaumont (again), Mt Green, Mt Walter, Footstool and most notably, Mt Vancouver (NZ's fourth highest peak). So there you go!
Bell's track work-party
2 Nov 2013
Four adults and two grandchildren went to the TTC area on Bell's Track in perfect weather conditions. It was pleasing to see that some of the plantings from earlier this year were doing well. Some had perished, probably owing to the gale force winds we've endured of late. Some of the new plants had a lot of gorse growing around them, so this was cleared to give them a better chance of survival. In addition to this the group did some weeding and cutting back. A successful morning."
