Northland To Brooklyn
Wednesday 19th Sept 2018
We had 10 members and 1 non-member on our walk today in glorious sunshine. It was agreed by everyone on the walk that this should be classified as Easy/Medium and we will take note of this for the future.
The route begins at Seaview Terrace Northland. Down Military Track ( steep) to Glenmore St.
Up through the Gardens to Kelburn and up steps and along to Raroa Rd.
Path down to Norway Street to park at bottom of Holloway Rd - morning tea stop.
Up Holloway Rd and up the hill through bush to Ashton Fitchett Drive – road leading to wind turbine.
Down towards Brooklyn and take path to war memorial on hill - lunch stop.
Down towards Aro Street via winding paths/ streets passing community gardens and remains of old hospital.
Down Aro Street, up onto Terrace and up through university coming out in front of the Hunter Building.
Across road and up towards Cable Car station, along and down into lower Kelburn via paths/streets and into Gardens.
Through Gardens, up Glenmore St and up Crieff St ( very steep) to Northland shops.
Through Northland shops, up paths/streets back to Seaview Terrace.
We thought it should be classified as “easy” because it took approximately 4 hrs, but several people have commented that it should be reclassified.
