Pigeon Bush M
Wednesday 3 February
A party of 18 people joined this medium Pigeon Bush Circuit trip.
The day was perfect with blue skies and no clouds. Temperatures rose from the 20s to 30 degrees at one point. Entry and exit was from the Remutaka SH2 access point, off Big Bend. We travelled in a clockwise direction on the Thomson Track and near Nicholls took the recently-marked windy weather route as a learning experience (although there was not a breath of wind). We dropped down into the valley and walked beside the stream to the Ranger’s hut before going over a southern ridge and then north and down to Prince Stream before taking the Chandler track for the return.
. [Ed: Route: see topo map denoted as ‘M’ in red dashes with the trip report by John Thomson in the November 2020 Tramper, p. 14. Justin says it was about 11 km and involved around 850 m of climbing].
