On Wednesday a large party explored the Tunnel Gully area tracks, but after lunch on Tane’s track the rain came so they took a short cut back to the car park. 17 members, 2 non members.

A new route over farmland in the south Wellington coastal area was explored by six members on Saturday. From South Karori Road they went up Silver Stream, over a weir, then climbed to the tops for views that encompassed Long Gully, the wind turbine, the Terawhiti hills, Wellington harbour and the south coast. After descending to the coast they followed South Karori Stream back to South Makara Road, then took the old bullock track back to the stream and followed that back to the start of the loop. A great trip.

The preschool family group camped at the Catchpool in good weather. They had a walk on Sunday morning, before the rain came, but then the sun came out to dry the tents. Four families, 10 children.

The family camping at Morisons Bush proved very popular, with 10 families enjoying a range of activities, including kayaking and biking over the Rimutaka Incline. 45 members

The Lake Chalice circuit in the Richmond range was enjoyed by four members who climbed Old Man Mountain and camped near the Old Man hut. They saw wekas, goats, wasps, bellbirds and “thousands” of fantails.

Six members of the M/F group continued their exploration of the Turere Stream, and reported that the lake had emptied, but there were two enormous slips blocking the stream.

On Sunday Bob Cyffers lead the way along a very overgrown track up Mt Wainui, through “Bush Lawyer Gully” to the top, for good views, in good weather. 13 members, 2 non members.

On Bushcraft 3, five groups went into Donnellys Flat on Friday night in the dark to camp and were each given their co-ordinates on Saturday morning for their trips. One or two groups had some difficulties, but everyone enjoyed the experience, and on Sunday managed to beat the southerly home. 5 members, 20 non members.
