Wednesday:
Chris Lock led a BBB Mt Kaukau with 10 members.
Wayne Griffin led a walk in Eastern Tararuas (M). There were 4 members and 1 non-member.
Colin Cook: Eight members and one non-member completed a loop in the Waitatapia area of Otaki Forks (MF). They took the old YTYY track to Saddle Creek then went off-track up a spur and along a ridge finally returning to the YTYY track at the head of Arapito Stream. Then back to the cars via the new sidle track.
Marilyn Richards led a Hutt River Bike trip - the first Wednesday bike trip - with 6 members and 1 non-member. All enjoyed, recommended more such.
Weekend:
Muriel Christiansen led a trip to Kime Hut (EM) with six members and two non-members (returning). Frday night they stayed at Parawai Lodge at Otaki Forks,where they met a Te Araroa trail thru-walker from Wales who had walked from Northland. Saturday, Field Hut for lunch and on to Kime Hut in clear weather with fabulous views. Soon after they arrived at Kime, the cloud started to roll in. By Sunday morning, the mist had turned to light drizzle, however, visibility improved, enough to see from pole to pole, so they were able to start their descent in the rain to Field, then to Otaki Forks.
Carol Kelly led a work party to Tararua Lodge. There were 10 members. All food was carried up to the Lodge. 3 fire doors were taken up, strong trampers carrying them across Hut Flat.
'''Amie Claridge led a trip to Mt Taranaki (Climb). 4 members and 1 non-member walked up to Kapuni Lodge (Mt Egmont Alpine club) on Friday night and headed up to Syme hut on Saturday. First overnight trip for the non-member and first time on scree! They abandoned their sleeping bags at Syme late morning and headed off towards the summit of Mt Taranaki. The summit was clear with clouds banking to the north. Turned back from the summit early as the cloud became a permanent fixture. Afternoon spent in the sunshine in Syme hut and exploring Fantams peak. Returned to Dawson Falls on a drizzly Sunday morning. A good time was had by all.
Sunday:
Alison Stephenson led a walk Walls Whare - Cone Hut (E/M). 3 members and 1 non-member; it was very pleasant.
Sieny Pollard led a Whakanui Mckerrow circuit (M) with 4 members. 8 hrs, drizzle most of the day.
Total 45 members and 7 non members
Vicki Wogan - depart Fri night (for Waerenga) and climb Mt Matthews Sat; out early Sun. Wx permitting. Still rum for couple more. Ring Vicki Wed night.
