Wednesday:
George Spencer ran a trip to Crofton Downs, Skyline track, Otari, with 4 members (E). Wet, strong winds, but a good walk all the same.
Michele Dickson led Wainui Golf Course, Gollans, Stanley St (EM, 9 members) Rain and drizzle most of the time and very cold. At least sheltered in the Gollans for lunch.
Dave Reynolds' East Holdsworth circuit was cancelled due to WX.
Warwick Wright stood in for Bob Stephens (7 members; M) With forecast gales & rain, leader off due to illness - change of plans, they walked from the Eastbourne bus barn to Butterfly Creek picnic area, McKenzie Track to Hawtrey, Ridge Track then down Kaitawa Road Track to York Bay. Wet and quite cold, not MF rated, but surprising pleasant.
Weekend:
Pip Newton led a Jumbo Powell crossing (EM, 9 members). $ went in on Friday night, 5 started Sat & went up East Holdsworth & over to Jumbo as WX forecast was for very windy Sunday. Fun night in a full hut at Jumbo; booking system worked well. Sunday they went out down the old track. Warm and sunny lower down, but very windy on the tops both days.
Amie Claridge'' Putara Rd Cattle Ridge did not run as leader unavailable.
Saturday:
Sarah White led a One Day Southern Crossing (F, 1 member, 3 non-members). Fine but windy over the tops. Wonderful day out.
Sunday:
Melanie Martin led Pt Howard - Eastbourne (EM) 9 members, very nice trip but very cold, especially in the bush.
Sylvia Dixon led a cycle trip, Waikanae to Takapau Station. 5 members, they had to take 2 trains to get the bikes to Waikanae as trains on Sunday take a maximum of 3 bikes each. The ride was easy & enjoyable.
Total 44 members and 3 non members
The ramble is as The Tramper, viz catch the 1014 train from Wgton, alight Kenepuru, at 1033, walk up to Raiha Street, meet at Hospital Rd. Parking on Raiha Street. Elsdon Bush, Porirua. Michelle 2326670 (I have a wayward phone, people need to leave a message).
In view of the possible weather, the trip may have to be altered, but the meeting place is still the same.
