Wednesday: David Oglive ran a trip to from the memorial about a km short of the normal Otaki Forks carpark.  We headed down an old steep route to the Otaki River, crossed it, and walked up the spur towards Tangata.  There’s a new trap line along the spur which had caught several possums.  We turned off at about 680 m and dropped down to Waitatapia Stream, which we followed to Otaki Forks, rather than climbing out at Papa Ck to use the track.  The river route takes about 20 min longer but is delightful.  An 8 h day, with 13 members.

Margaret foden ran a Days aBay and Beach trip having a very rough, nailbiting ferry ride we joined our less queasy friends at the Days Bay Pavilion for coffee and cheese scones. Then a quick stroll up into the bush before battling the gale around the beach. The wind won and we had lunch in a sheltered park in Eastbourne, with 15 members.

Wayne Perlins ran a Turere stream- Mathews trip and had an enjoyable day crossing the Turere stream from the McKerrow to the Whakanui side, lunching at the waterfall. An excellent approach to communal navigation to reach the stream, all limbs intact, with 9 members
