Activity summary: Wednesday 2018 Jul 11 to Tuesday 2018 Jul 17
Wednesday: Linda Beckett reported that 20 members attended lunch at Chillax Espresso in Crofton Downs on Wednesday 11 July. It was great to see them all enjoying the company of old friends. Chris Lock (organiser for that lunch)
This is my first tramp leadership (standing in for David Ogilvie who was unavailable to do the medium tramp on the 11th July. Consequently it is also my first trip report. Please let me know if other information needs to be included.
17 people came on the City to Sea tramp Started at 0900 at the Bolton street cemetery Finished at 2.30 at Island Bay in time to catch the 2.45 bus back to the Wellington CBD We had a stunningly beautiful sunny, windless winter's day.
Peter Nixon ran an easy Wenesday trip on a pleasant short walk to Boulder Hill in fine slightly breezy weather. Noticable is that nobody actually tripped on anything, but a few became fallen women by slipping on mud. Possible first easy day trip to carry a PLB, with 9 people
Winter Six day trip: Peggy Munn ran the Round Ruapehu trip, which was delayed 3 days while we let a storm occupy the mountain. The 6 day trip got underway on 10 July with snow everywhere. We started at Waitonga Falls and went anti clockwise. The days were tiring with so much snow but we enjoyed a cosy, warm hut each night.
Although we seemed to be chased by copper-tinged black seething cloud, it never caught us and overall the weather was as good as could be expected for a mid winter trip,
12 club members had a fine time,
Total 41 members
