Johnsonville-Kaukau-& south, EM, Penny Salmond Topo Map Beautiful day out . Great to have 2 new members with us plus Carol back on deck. Johnsonville, Skyline, Kaukau, over the stile above Otari for lunch then a big sidle and lovely bush around and down to the cemetery. Then out for the bus! 13 to start with; 2 break away points for those wanting a little less distance. Kombucha and snack for the drivers back at my place in J’ville!

Lowry Bay to Days Bay in the bush, M, Carolyn Jenkins Topo Map

Aorangi Adventure, MF, Lynne White Topo Map Nine members shared the van to Waikuku Lodge near the Haurangi Road end on Tuesday.  We had a lovely shared meal beside a roaring fire before adjourning to the freezing cold bunk rooms!  Next day, Wednesday, we completed a circuit up to Mount Ross and back to the road end, using DoC and non- DoC tracks which included a section horribly overgrown by gorse.  The weather was good and we had wonderful views down to the Kaikouras, out over Lake Oroke and Palliser Bay and to the Tararuas.  Back to Wellington in the club van.  A good time was had by all (I think!)

Saturday

Kaitoke to Frith, M, Cathy Wylie Topo Map On Saturday 4 members had enjoyable tramp from Kaitoke, up the Barry Durrant track to Puffer Saddle, up the still Peter Jagger marked spur to the Pylon road, and got within view of Mt Frith before the wind got too strong to continue. 7 hours.

Sunday

Whareroa loop trip, E/M, Ken Fraser Topo Map 10 people on the trip. Good climb up to Campbell Mill Road up a steep spur with blue marker poles. Lunch was taken at a picnic table with company of three horses and young riders. Return was by way of the "Dell". Cool cloudy day was ideal for walking. Everybody enjoyed them selves. Only 3.5 hours return.

Total: 51 club members out in the hills
