Plimmerton Pukerua Bay / Belmont/Santuary to sea

Wednesday

The Medium trip to Plimmerton Pukerua Bay was led by Brain and Sally Hassel.

20 Members enjoyed the Plimmerton- Pukerua Bay Circuit. Despite initial concern about the gale southerly winds forecast we had a fine day, dramatic views and lighter than expected winds. 17 completed the circuit in 6 hours, the other 3 opting for a shorter day and going home from Pukerua Bay .

The E and R Sanctuary to Sea trip was led by Peter Nixon.

Wednesday started was cold, wet and windy. Despite the dismal forecast nine trampers turned up - some delayed by indecision. The worst of the rain stopped and the sun shone. We had a pleasant and comfortable trip mostly in the shelter of bush. The worst aspect was the muddy and slippery descent from Karori cemetery to the Otari valley stream. On reaching Otari's northern carpark most of the party turned round to walk back to Karori to pick up their cars so nobody reached the sea.

Weekend

The EM trip to Belmont loop was led by Alison Stephenson.

Four members spent a happy 5 hours in brilliant sun exploring the Pareraho Forest between Belmont and Kelson. In our travels visited the pa site, Fairy dell, Rusty Forks, and The forgotten Highway, crossed several streams, negotiated some slippery tracks - and had stunning views of the harbour and the Hutt Valley along the way.

38 trampers were in the hills
