Kaitoke Regional Park/Manawatu - Central Hawkes Bay biking trails/Waeranga Hut

Wednesday

Club end of year gathering 43M

Short walks and shared lunch at Kaitoke: co-ordinated by Mary & Wayne Perkins. The weather gods were smiling for this event with 43 people participating. Walks were led by Robin Chesterfield, Paul Jones and Leonore Hoke, with Leonore's group also going for a dip in the stream. Over a shared lunch members caught up with news and generally had a good time.

E Cycling Trip to the Manawatu and Central Hawkes Bay areas, led by Frank & Robyn Usmar, 10 – 12 Dec 8M/5NM

The route was the new Manawatu Tararua shared pathway. The first day was an inaugural trip over the new pathway from Woodville to Ashhurst and return, a 300 M climb and descent each way. The following days we cycled from Waipukurau to Ongaonga and return, and from Waipukurau to Otane and return. Good weather and good times were had by all with no incidents, breakdowns or punctures.

Weekend

Waeranga Hut Picnic 12 M

Sunday 14 December, pikelets and picnic at Waeranga Hut with the weekend trampers. A [ovely day over at Waerenga with 12 members and a veritable feast. Bacon and egg pie, Asparagus rolls, Banh Mi, Broccoli and apple salad, smoked salmon blini, frittata with plum sauce, chocolate and ginger slice, fresh fruit. Despite this plethora of choice my jammy pikelets were still popular. All washed down with multiple cups of tea. And then we all had a lie down before a refreshing dip in the river.
