Neill Winchcombe Crossing
19 February 2000
Bernard Molloy was leader of the Neill Winchcombe Crossing but an injury prevented him from doing so and I substituted as leader. As there were only two others on the trip list, a one day trip was suggested. Thanks to Bill Allcock and Bernard who provided transport, the one day Neill Winchcombe Crossing became a reality. The trip was completed from Otaki Forks to Walls Whare in almost exactly 12 hours. The crossing is probably a little harder but more interesting than the one day Southern, and for a fit party in good conditions it is a most enjoyable trip. A good weekend fit circuit would be from Walls Whare over the Neill Winchcombe to Alpha and back to Walls Whare via Bull Mound, staying overnight at Alpha Hut.
The party members were Colin Cook, Dave Reynolds (leader and scribe) and Tim Stone.
