Our Trip to Mt Ruapehu

In the July school holidays, we went to Mt Ruapehu. It wasn’t the first time we’ve been there. We will always remember the good times we had there. But we will never forget the steep icy hike up the mountain to the warmth of our cosy cabin.

We had quite a lot of spare time when we were not outside, so we discovered the joy of playing card games such as Last Card and Uno. We would also play our (possibly) made-up version of Zombie Tag, with our own little tweaks here and there. We loved to play long games of hide and seek as well. We brought most of the food with us, but for bigger meals, like dinner, there is a lot of canned food under the seats in the main lounge area. Bedtime is either hot or cold but either way, it's the end of the day and we have somewhere to stay.

Outside it's obviously cold but building igloos, throwing snowballs or tobogganing down steep slopes we all had fun. We had to wear snow goggles and sunscreen to avoid damage to our eyes and getting sunburnt. At the end of our three-day trip we were all packing and cleaning, all ready to go and wishing the people here next a fabulous trip.

Special shout out to everyone there.
