Website backup

Our web host provider does backup the TTC website, allowing them to restore it after their failure. To be safe however, the club pages in the website, and the file uploads on the website, are copied off the server automatically nightly.

Automatically

Changes to the website are backed up automatically, using Allwaysync.

  • currently the website is backed up every night. See Simon for details.

The automatic backup is

  • incremental
  • changed or deleted files are held for 240 days only

Manually

This can be done manually:

FileZilla is regularly used to copy changed files from the webserver to local storage.

TTC website folder structure

The two directories that need to be copied to preserve club data are

  • /wiki.d/
  • /uploads/

In addition to preserve website customisations, the following directories are required

  • /local/
  • /pub/

It also makes life easier if you backup the email forwarders from CPanel.

  • the website is ~4GB in size
